In My Eyes: Vermont Pride

Growing up in the sticks of Vermont, I always took it’s lush green scenery for granted and now that I’ve been living in the arid lands of Colorado I want nothing more than the thick green vegetation found back east.

Here are a few shots I took while back east.

That’s bone… and the lettering is something called…

I didn’t use Silian Rail and it’s not quite bone but it is the new CNCPTS business card.

The Concepts: ARC USA

We recently took on the site redesign job for the Australian Resource Conference which will be host in Denver next year. The conference has been staged for the sole purpose of linking US based investors with Australian businesses. With that in mind we knew the site needed an edge but also needed some corporate undertones. The client needed the ability to make edits on there own once the site was launched and also have the ability to feed dynamic content such as Twitter posts. Based on those requirements we recommended WordPress as it’s built in CMS is easy to use and highly customizable. Below are a few high fidelity mock ups.

Goblins in the Closet

While back in New England visiting my family this week my sister told me a story about one of her co-workers and her son. Typically I wouldn’t share something like this but it left me on the ground laughing after hearing it.

So it was a typical spring day in Bethlehem, New Hampshire and a mother is driving to the local ball fields to pick up her daughter from softball practice. The mother’s 8 year old son is at home alone as she had expected to be gone for no more than an hour. Before she is able to park the car she receives a call from her son, he’s hysterical.

“Mom, you need to come home now, I found a goblin and I locked it in the closet!”

Like most mothers, she assumes the young boy is playing and there couldn’t really be anything in the closet.

So she replies “Ok, i’m picking up your sister now, i’ll be home soon.”

An hour later she arrives home and her son takes her to the closet which has a chair wedged under the handle as to keep to goblin from escaping.

Still under the assumption that she will open the door to find an empty closet except for few hanging coats, she opens the door.

In the closet staring up at her she finds

…………..a little person, a midget census workers, that the boy locked in the closet out of fear.

Note to all little people who have door to door occupations, beware of all 8 year old boys who are home alone.

Beware of the goblins in your closet

Disclaimer: This is real, no joke.

American Fun

Over the past 3 years I’ve been deeply involved with One 5 Media, from marketing, event planning, music coordination for the films and all aspects of the design and web development. Last year we didn’t film for the annual mountainboard video as all of our proprieties lay elsewhere. This year everything is back on track. All winter Justin Dersham, founder of One 5 Media has been working hard filming the ultimate ski bum Chris Tatsuno, he recently packed up shop and left for Europe to film the next mountainboard film. Right before he left town he asked if we could throw together a quick sticker for the trip and being a sticker freak I jumped right on it.

Stickers are super fun to design, you never know where they will end up or what implication it might have on a brand. Since mountainboarding isn’t the most lucrative industry, riders do it purely for fun, and One 5 Media tries to capture that in it’s films. With that in mind I knew the sticker had better be fun and for some reason on that day when I thought of summer and fun, bubble gum popped in my head. Dubble Bubble was always one of my favorite, hence the release of the One 5 Media “American Fun” stickers.

Another sticker I also finished recently was The Produce “Always Fresh” stickers, which have been a big hit with my friends.
